Westie Archie needed to come into rescue, as he was living in a bustling household with young children, and he had bitten family members.
Archie is 7 years old, not castrated, not vaccinated.
He is in foster care with Trish in South Brink, Wisbech.
Notes from Trish 13.08.2025
Archie is doing so well, I decided this morning to walk Archie around where I live, hoping to meet some dogs and test his social skills. The people ignored him, as requested, and he was fine with the dogs, friendly but not at all threatening …..so he met two, both very good… the only problem was was the obvious testosterone surging around his body… but this will be corrected soon… so I feel till tht is done I will keep him on a lead… but his recall is improving… and I am doing some basic training with him. He is proving to be an intelligent little guy….. so post castration he will be ready to have a run around without a lead, which I am sure he will enjoy….
But the big thing I’m thrilled with this morning is that he has gone off in the garden and lies there contented and relaxed. He has had a sleep on my feet post-walk, which he hasn’t done before. He was so stressed when he arrived last Monday afternoon.
Looking into Archie’s eyes when he arrived, right up to today, I only saw fear and stress, and he showed anxiety in his actions
This am, after we had been up for a while, we were in the garden, and I sat down. he sat looking at me, and I realised the stress and fear had gone… all I could see was affection and love. I suddenly relaxed with him. It is so lovely, bless him.
I do realise I still have to be careful for a while, but there is trust in this little guy… I am so pleased for him. I think there is a sweet little dog in there, just got to develop it.
Note from Mo
I can’t thank Trish enough for all she has done to care for and help this dear Westie so quickly, after the life he had previously led.
update 23rd August
Trish has coped so well with dear Archie, but she feels she does not have enough Westie experience to deal with his behavioural problems
So I need a Westie Savvy foster home for him
Update 31st August
We have decided it is in Archie’s best interest to stay with Trish until after he has been groomed and castrated, and then to restart his vaccinations.
Update 2nd September
Another setback for Archie, Trish had to take him back to the vets yesterday, as he had diarrhoea, with blood in his poo. He had to be muzzled due to his aggression. Meds were subscribed. Trish advises he is a little bit better this morning
Update 13th September
We are pleased to say that Posher Paws have been able to groom him, apart from his tail, which he didn’t like being touched. The groomer thinks he could have been pulled around by his tail by children. Archie went to the vets last Wednesday for castration. He had to be muzzled as he was aggressive when the nurses were trying to sedate him. We also requested that they trim his tail, which they did. He is recovering well back at home with Trish. There is still a long way to go for Archie before he is ready for rehoming
update 14th September
Dear Trish feels she has done all she can to help Archie, he does have many behavioural problems, due to not receiving the training and care he needed in the 7 years of his life before coming into rescue. He does trust Trish, but can be aggresive with other people. If anyone feels they would like a challange, please contact me (Mo)
